Pastor Johnoy Battiste

Pastor Johnoy Battiste is the man appointed to pastor Miracle Faith Centre, which is the Duke Street Branch of the Miracle World Outreach Ministries, It's a task he is excited to undertake, as he believes that the church can make a significant difference in the lives of the residents of the inner-city community, located in Kingston, Jamaica W.I.

Early Life

An accounting officer who works at the Sister of Mercy of Jamaica and a distinguished ACCA student, Johnoy Battiste was born to Noel and Claudeth Battiste.  He grew up in the community of Mount Ogle Lawrence Tavern in St. Andrew with six other siblings, where his mother was the only Christian in the household.  She was a praying woman, who played a major role in his life.

Pastor Battiste recalls vividly how he gave his life to the Lord.  His uncle had died, and young Battiste attended his funeral in December 2007.  At the time, he attended the Temple Hall New Testament.  He remembers the one question asked by the preacher: "This man is now dead, he cannot hear me.  On the day of your funeralm where will your soul be?"  That question left such an indelible mark on his mind that he started to attend church service every Sunday until he finally gave his life to the Lord in March 2008.  By April he was baptised.

As a young man, Battiste became well exposed to various aspects of ministry.  In 2008 he appointed Vice President for the Youth Fellowship, and since then, he has been very active, willingly untertaking various tasks and occupying several positions.  At one point, he was a Sunday School Teacher, Youth and Discipleship Director, Secretary for the Men;s Board and Men's Choir Director,  He was also the youngest elected deacon in the history of that church.

Pastor Battiste recalls his first preaching engagement well.  The Chidren's Director asked him to share the Word for the upcoming Children's Sunday and after sharing it became clear to him that God had called him to Ministry.  After gaining more experience, the church eventually sent Pastor Battiste to the Bethel Bible College in Kingston where he obtained a certificate in Christian Ministry.  He later left Temple Hall New Testament, and was apointed Youth Pastor and Administrator for the Faith Deliverance Church of God.

Pastor Battiste credits his spiritual growth  and journey to his connection with wonderful young people who fear the Lord.  They not only strengthen him, but each other. They were all introduced into the miinistry at a young age and fell in love with it,  Pastor Battiste says that along the journey, he found that he had a passion for the gift of healing, particularly because he had seen people suffer because of illness.  He believes that he will not be satisfied until he lays hands on a sick person, and they receive healing.

Sharing his vision for the branch

In sharing his vision for the branch, Pastor Battiste notes that he strongly believes that many lives will be changed because of the presence of the church in the community.  He points out that many people do not expect much from the Duke Street area, but he believes that the community is "ripe", as the residence are eager to experience something new and positive.

His hope is that the Ministry will work to spread the gospel of Jesus throughout the entire community and its surroundings, and will produce life changing results in the residents and the community as a whole.

Pastor Battiste explains that many persons in the community have experience rejection at one time or another and some have even lost hope.  Be he is certain that the gospel will bring new hope, and will demonstrate that when people surrender their lives to Jesus Christ, they can expect to experience a better quality of life and desire the same for themselves and the people around them.
